Reformation thought taken to illogical extreme

"I wonder if a certain fear of the imagination isn't a logical result of the Reformation, that is, an element of Reformation thought taken to illogical extreme. The Reformation did much to restore the Bible as the Word of God...

But like many necessary reforms, this on led to its own absurdities. The emphasis on 'scripture alone,' for example, came to mean for some Christians that anything non-biblical, including products of the human imagination such as poems, paintings and hymns, were unholy."
