  1. Dave,

I think the board of elders at MHBC talked Kent into the job even though he didn't see himself in that role. I thought his speech was a bit self indulgent — but no worse than some messages Bell gave when he was there. The man was uncomfortable in the role from the beginning. The church has declined. He wants to move on — even though he doesn't know where that will lead him. He should move on.

  2. my only response to this article was #damn.

"It’s not that he’s journeyed away from the “center” of faith. No, he’s just stayed in the center of the zeitgeist—in the “mainstream” of a culture which is rapidly leaving Christian orthodoxy behind. He’s not energized with a boyish, effrontery audacity, he’s paralyzed with fear."

And then #slowclap for "the real adventurers are those who set sail for the risky land of Christian orthodoxy."

  3. I know this is off-topic but cant find a link to email you. Adele on Bono “I said to him, like, ‘How can you write so many amazing songs about one person?’ Meaning his wife,” she explained. “And he said they were all about God, which I thought was so f—ing amazing. It never even occurred to me that you could write ‘With or Without You’ about God.”
