I believe Tim Tennent nailed it. The analogy between slavery and homosexuality in scripture does not hold up. Unfortunately, many will buy the easy comparison.

What a pleasant way to do away with scriptures that make you uncomfortable! Too many of these silly guys do intellectual gymnastics so that they can mirror the larger non-believing public, and pat themselves on the back for being "relevant" clergy.
