the internet was made for man, not man for the internet

In a helpful post,"Can a Man Write Offline?," DreamerTom notes:

The internet does not lend itself to seasons. It cries out for constancy.

Thus we must discern and re-member the rhythms;
sneakily seek the seasons and sabbathings of the Spirit,
with insistent and consistent unrestraint
even when the sabbath doesn't fall on the sabbath.

Only random regularity and fixed fluidity will keep us on time and in sync,
deliver us from strategy,
and cast out every foul spirit of effectiveness
Who took the shabbat out of shalom?

Sometimes the only way online with God is offline with man.
And machine.

Ever seen someone online while in line for the shabbat elevator?

I love my friend Tony who has ditched his watch, and found his life.
Ironically it might be the only ways and means for me rememebering the sabbath.
Calendars lead to Chronolatry, anyway.
But missing and dissing sabbaticals lead to caving to Empire.

"If that's all we do (reduce everything to a problem to be solved, and fix and figure), we become myopic, managers and mechanics of what is immediately before us, with no peripheral vision and no horizons. We miss most of life." -Eugene Peterson"The Unnecessary Pastor,"
