Bono once coyly drew his fish in the sand
(and threw a bone to the Christians, to mix the metaphor)
by introducing "40," song basically a reading of Psalm 40, with:
"This is a song that when we were being thrown out of the studio... we spent ten minutes writing this next song, ten minutes recording it, ten minutes mixing it, ten minutes playing it back, and that's nothing to do with why it's called '40.'" link
Yeah, right.
It could be Tim Tabor of The Prayer Chain does a version of the same fish, here in this video of the reunion rehearsal of a song called "58".
Even though there is no clear lyrical connect to Psalm 58 (or IS THERE?), the lines "Take my fist/hold it in your hand" smell far too psalmlike to me; even though the song is ostensibly/also about anger towards betrayal by an earthly father..
Or not.
Or maybe they just spent 14 1/2 minutes writing it, 14 1/2 minutes recording it, 14 1/2 minutes mixing it, 14 1/2 minutes playing it back, and that's nothing to do with why it's called '58'...(:

...and another classic from that gig:
Studio version of Fifty Eight:
