all of this can be yours

Yesterday, I found on the to what he called "Biblical Literacy 101":

this church masthead with..do a triple take on that verse (if you don't immediately gasp, laugh, or faint, look up the context!!)!!

Keltic Ken just pointed out that the church must have caught wind of their mistake, the site has now replaced the verse with the church phone number.

I see there are many comments on the original theologica post, so it could be someone has commented there on what happened...if you want "the rest of the story"

I'll try hard to leave it in the "no comment" department(:

..except to say that church website must've gotten lots of hits lately.

and:

glad I snagged the original mathead before they removed it.

  2. The site wasn't hacked. Here is the quote from the churches website regarding the error.

We were recently made aware that the former quote we had posted in the header on our site was actually not based on the word of Jesus but was a quote posed to him during his temptation. As soon as we were made aware of this we removed the quote from our site. We removed it...not hackers as some ill-informed bloggers would have you believe. This unfortunate lesson is a demonstration why when using tools online to identify quotes that you think deliver the honest and sincere message you intended you should always view the quotes in their whole context.

    Scary.

  6. Good thinking in capturing the image! I've been searching the internet for the last hour looking for a cached version of the original and I [fortunately] happened upon your site!

    Thanks!

i captured the image to show at church, not being smart enough to know it would be taken offline that very day(:
