Chef Rev. Capon: Prophetic Provocateur

I love introducing folks to prophetic provocateur Robert Farrar Capon's writings...Episcopal priest, right-brainer, chef and wine buff extraordinaire, holy humor in a reverently irreverent way.... now elderly (pray for his health concerns) ; still a great and creative mentor to emerging church...Why does it seem no bloggers but Len and I hang out with him?

Even if the teacher's audience were to try earnestly to take it in, the only intellectual devices they have to pick it up with are the categories of the old system with which it conflicts. I think this blog will be a place for me to post thoughts...and linking to lots of other writers and thinkers who are impacting me re: church and culture in this "weird moment in history"( David Dark's prophetic minimalist term)!

Often I'll link to articles on the "Wine and Skins" page of our loaded (and leaded) "Shift Happens" forum , as I comment on them. That wild and woolly page
is a phenomenal resource..

Oh, about the name of the blog...don't worry (too much) about me being a "heteroclite." It simply means someone a bit out of the normal orbit; appropriately eccentric, etc.

Some of you have doubts about the "holy" qualifier. I do, too. But St. Paul says clearly we are all saints (same word as "holy"). I often say to our flock, "We are only human; and 'only holy.'

I'd love to hear from anyone even remotely close to being on the same page! Talk to me!
